A school that develops the whole child
Singapore American School is the best school my kids have attended to date. Coming from highly rated school districts in the US, I believe this is saying a lot. When we first transitioned to this school, the teachers, staff, and other students were so friendly and welcoming that there was barely an adjustment! As far as academics go we have been impressed with the individualized teaching they have shown. They have additional resources such as “math lab” which they offer to students who need more of a challenge or will support them with extra teachers/resources when things don’t come as easily. The teachers truly care about the kids and go beyond their educational duties to develop the “whole child”. They also focus on developing positive learning attitudes from little on. For example, In the first week of my daughter’s 1st-grade class, they had they taught the students to have a growth mindset and to say “I can’t YET” instead of “I can’t”. The counselor’s grade level lessons emphasize the importance of social-emotional health, to boost the experience of the children’s interactions with their friends and help them properly regulate their feelings. All in all, I don’t have enough good things to say about this school. Highly recommend SAS for any families looking for a quality American-based education in SG.
