Lucaya International School (LIS) is an accredited, college preparatory, non-profit, independent, non-sectarian, co-educational day school governed by a Board of Directors. Founded in 1998, the school is designed to serve the children of the local and international community living on Grand Bahama. All classes are offered in English, with the exception of modern language courses. The educational program is modeled along North American, British and International Baccalaureate Organization guidelines. The school year runs from mid-August to mid-June and has a minimum instructional period of 175 days divided into two semesters.
LIS sits on 12 acre, purpose built campus situated in a quiet, rural setting within easy reach of the main residential areas of the island. There are classrooms in the Early Childhood Center, Primary School, Middle/High School, and I.B. Building. In addition, there is an administration building, library, computer lab, science labs, music and art rooms, covered lunch area, basketball courts, sand volleyball court, soccer field, all purpose field, and playgrounds.
