Escola Americana de Belo Horizonte (The American School of Belo Horizonte)
Escola Americana de Belo Horizonte (EABH), the only American School in the State of Minas Gerais, was founded in 1956 by a group of missionary parents and businessmen, with the intention of providing educational programs in the American tradition, in the English language, for Brazilian children and other children of any nationality. The school became a private, non-profit school owned by the Association of Parents.
The school is owned by parents in the form of an Association, which elects a 7-member Board of Directors to govern the school. The Board hires a Director, who is responsible for the day-to-day activities. EABH is accredited by AdvancEd Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), and recognized by the Secretary of Education of Minas Gerais.
